Privacy Policy

This policy applies to dustinlifford.com and explains how the site uses cookies and analytics, what the contact form collects, and what personal information, if any, is collected through normal use.

This site does not require an account and does not process payments. It collects personal information only when you send a message through the contact form, described below. Otherwise, the only data collected comes from the analytics tools described below. Analytics cookies are set only after you say yes.

When you first visit, a consent banner asks whether you are comfortable with analytics cookies. No analytics cookies are set and Microsoft Clarity does not load before you make a choice.

Your choice is saved in a cookie named dl_consent for up to 12 months, so you are not asked again on every visit. You can change your mind at any time using the Privacy Preferences link in the footer of every page.

If you accept analytics cookies, this site uses Google Analytics 4 to see aggregate traffic and page performance, and Microsoft Clarity to see how pages are used through session recordings and heatmaps.

Both tools are configured to skip advertising signals. No ad storage, ad user data, or ad personalization values are ever sent, whether or not you accept analytics.

If you decline or do not respond, Microsoft Clarity does not load at all. The Google Analytics script still loads on every page, but it sets no cookies and sends Google only cookieless page counts, with no ad signals.

This site also uses Cloudflare Web Analytics, a cookieless page counter. It gives aggregate counts of page views and sets no cookies, and it does not build a profile of you as a visitor. Because it sets no cookies, it runs without the consent banner.

The contact form asks for your name and email address and, if you choose to give them, your organization and phone number. It also asks which topics your question touches, how urgent it is, and for your message.

When you send the form, your message is delivered by email to hello@dustinlifford.com through Resend, an email delivery service.

Cloudflare Turnstile checks that the form is being sent by a person and not a bot.

Messages are kept for 120 days and then deleted. If you want a message you sent deleted sooner, email hello@dustinlifford.com and it will be.

Like most web servers, this site's server keeps access logs. They record the IP address, the time, and the page requested for every visit, including form submissions, and are kept for up to 120 days.

Nothing you type into the form is sent to Google Analytics, Microsoft Clarity, or Cloudflare Web Analytics. If you have accepted analytics cookies, Google Analytics records only that a form was sent, with no message content and none of your details.

Use the Privacy Preferences link in the footer to open the consent settings again at any time and change or withdraw your choice.
